I just found that Longman has released several useful tools, including search engines and widgets, on their website. I've been using Longman online dictionary for a long time. I like the arrangement of its content and explanations of words always come with examples. It's nice for people who are not native English speaker.

Socialthing! invitation letter

Finally, I got the invitation email from Socialthing! team, a late competitor of Friendfeed. Signed up an account and tried its interface. Services it can support are not as many as FriendFeed, but the interface is much simpler and compact. I am not saying which one is the winner. It's too early to say so. Socialthing! is still at beta version and problems may pop up in the future. We'll see.

Palm上的免費截圖軟體Snap

在Windows和Ubuntu下，都可以用PrintScrn來抓取目前的畫面，甚至可以抓取某個視窗或是某個範圍的畫面。但是在PalmOS裡，就沒有這麼方便了。雖然如此，還是有解決的方式。

這個軟體叫做Snap，檔案很小，但是功能卻很明確，使用方式也很直覺。離題一下，這和Unix的設計風格很像，一個應用程式就只做一件事，而且做到最好，卻又保持簡單(KISS Rule)。這個軟體可以設定要用哪一個鍵來觸發抓取，並將擷取的畫面存成BMP檔，存在擴充卡上的/Palm/Programs/Snap/目錄裡。

如何將YouTube上的影片抓下來轉成Sony Walkman S681F看的格式

經過幾天的嘗試，用了一些相關的軟體，如YouTube Video Downloader和YouTube Downloader，
終於成功在S-618F上看到影片囉。

後來發現，使用YouTube Downloader應該是最簡單的吧，不需設定什麼東西，只要將影片的網址貼入軟體中，下載完後選擇轉成PSP Video (H.264 MP4)後，在丟進Walkman裡就可以看了。

SSH Tunneling.

In the company I work for, the administrators only offer SSH connection for all employees to use at their homes. But, sometimes, I need to see some GUI to make sure what I have done are correct. For instance, I want to use VNC connection. I can use SSH tunneling to create a tunnel between your VNC server port and local port. Here are the steps,

* In remote machine, start a VNC server by vncserver :90 (the actual port is 5990)

* In local machine, use PuTTY to build a SSH tunnel between local port and remote port. For example, I want to create a tunnel between local port 5901 and remote port 5900, like the image below. After the host is opened, use a VNC viewer to open the VNC connection.
